Hi, I'm Meg.
Well..... tbh, I'm surprised I haven't joined before now, considering how often I've been switching my programs up until now I'm in tv fandom, and I post a lot of streaming feeds on Tumblr so people outside the US can watch an excellent tv show called Suits*, and as a result... Yeah. It's REALLY easy to get hammered by bugs when you're poking around on shady sites. The things I do for my hobbies... *put upon sigh* It takes a lot of the fun out of watching the show with people all over the world when you're too busy running scans and debugging to actually watch or enjoy the show with said people.
Bonus points because if my laptop is out of commission, I basically am too. I've got severe carpal tunnel in one hand, and I can't write for very long so I compensate for that by using adaptive tech I've got an Intuos tablet that I use as a mouse replacement, and I've got handwriting recognition set up as well, so between that and Dragon, I can almost function normally for most things.
I'm heading into meteorology, too, so there's a fair amount of programming and tech in my future.... No, I'm not going to be the weather girl on tv, I'll be out chasing storms and trying to figure out how they work. Won't have a lot of room for equipment, so I'll have to make the absolute most out of my phone and laptop while I'm out there.
So, basically I'm just always looking for programs that are light, effective, and that will help me stretch out the life of this poor overworked laptop of mine so I don't have to go on the ramen noodle diet in order to buy a new one before I can save up for it.
*You might not want to ask me about Suits, reboot Star Trek, or anything weather related. I will NOT shut up about it, you have been warned.
