Hi all, sorry for some dumb questions but I am beyond frustration. Been fighting some nasty browser redirects, such as fake Flash Player Updates, Google searches going to Yahoo, crazy Wizard games pages, etc. At times Norton will catch a "Malvertisement Website Redirect 21", etc. These happen in Firefox, Chrome and IE. I have tried ALL of the suggested steps in the "
How to remove Web Browser Redirect Virus (Windows Help Guide)" to no help. Still there. In fact, there really isn't ANYTHING that the different tools really find other than clearing up browser histories, cookies, etc. No REAL Malware found. Dumb Question. Seems to be around the time of a system hardware replacement of a new motherboard and processor. Can the MB BIOS be infected? Also around the same time I installed "Seagate Dashboard" for my USB drive. I hence removed the dashboard and again, still plagued. HELP PLEASE, at wits end here.
Thank you kindly in advance for any assistance.

Just factory reset, backup all you wish to keep and simply factory reset that easy
I have done that with the BROWSERS. Are you talking about Windows 10 in general? If so I will have to look into what that wipes and if it will really cure it.
Thanks much!

Please stick only to my instructions.

FRST.gif

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Let me know if anything is better after this fix.

Thank you very much. Have been able to run ok for a few days since doing this fix, sorry not more. Been in Hospital with 17 year old daughter, suffered multiple fractured vertebrae after a very bad horse jumping accident. Will be able to log more time in a few days after we return home.
Again thank to all for the outpouring of support and suggestions.
