Hi members,

currently I am using the Kaspersky program control feature to lock down the access of applications to my files.
However, I am not 100% satisfied with this solution as it seems that it is somehow buggy at least in the 2017 version...

meanwhile I am looking into Pumpernickel from Excubits to see if this is a better fit for me...

Which solution would you recommend to lock down the access to special folders / files?

Thanks and cheers

@LanDude : I have a license for Appguard but I can't warm myself for it. IMHO Appguard is not the anwer to my question as it doesn't allow to restrict access to special files / folders for special applications...

Come September, Microsoft will bring Controlled Folder Access to Windows 10 Autumn Creators Update. Not only protect against Ransomware, but also against other Threats and Untrusted Apps.
My most recent encounter with Avast Ransomware Shield, prevented Chrome.exe from Modifying the contents of my Music folder. However, being a legitimate reason I allowed this action, as Google Play Music extension downloaded all my songs from the cloud to local Music folder. (Avast Help File states an Allowed App is permanently allowed unless manually revoked).

I use Secure Folders. Just set folders containing your most important data as read-only and turn off protection manually when you need to modify something in said folders.
