Locking your screen prevents other people from accessing your computer while you are away from it. In Windows, usually people use Win + L key combination to lock the PC while leaving their PC. However, in Windows 8, you don’t even need to use the Win + L key to lock the PC. After a certain period of inactivity, the PC will be locked out automatically, just like a smartphone.
So, what is the real problem? As your PC locked out automatically when you leave it idle for some time, you have to type the password every time you come back to your PC. So, how do we stop Windows 8’s auto lock out feature?
There is no direct option to toggle “auto lock out” feature on and off. It can only be disabled or enabled via Group Policy Editor.
Open run command box by pressing Win + R keys simultaneously. Type “gpedit.msc” in the box and press enter key.
On the Group Policy Editor, expand Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Control Panel and then click on “Personalization”.
Now, on the right pane, double-click on “Do not display the lock screen” to enable or disable this feature. Click ‘Enabled” option and then click OK to save the setting. You don’t need to restart your PC.
