This tutorial is more for xp user but can be used for vista and 7

First reboot the system and press F8 until the black screen with options appears

chose safe mode with command prompt

you will have this screen chose administrator or your user

now you will have the screen with command prompt

for xp type this command and press enter
systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe%
now system restore will open

click next and choose restore point

win 7 and vista type
rstrui.exe

if you still can't boot try this command
chkdsk c:/r press enter
you will be asked this press y and enter
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts
