Gyazo is pretty nice also. Keeps a record of your screengrabs for later use.

Pretty useful guide, Linux distros are provided with printscreen camera application which could be found on related menu button.

I'm using from Windows 8 for printscreen is Paint which better for not so complex task. ;)

I use Snipping Tool from Windows 7 for specific areas screenshots.

If full screenshots, then I just use PrntScr.

Although some of the names here seem handy, what are the advantages over the 2 options I use?

Alternate applications allow the screenshots to be edited on the spot as well as being uploaded to an Image hosting service (anonymously or registered), or to another online service (example: see ShareX).
