How-To UNINSTALL IPv6 Internet Protocol for the Security Reasons .. for you all .. or remove, if you wish ..

First: our topics for your memory:

Are you ready for IPv6? : http://malwaretips.com/Thread-Are-you-ready-for-ipv6?

How to install and uninstall IPv6 in Windows XP : http://malwaretips.com/Thread-How-to-install-and-uninstall-IPv6-in-Windows-XP

Well, for the security reasons (it's big road to many exploits ..), is very good to UNINSTALL this IPv6 Internet Protocol.

Some links I find on the Web:

How to disable IPv6 in Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista / Windows 7 : http://forums.peerblock.com/read.php?3,5544,5592

Microsoft : To remove IPv6 (it's for Windows XP SP3): http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...docs/en-us/sag_ip_v6_pro_remove.mspx?mfr=true

Yes, because in my Windows XP SP2 - I don't have possibility to remove, because I don't this IPv6.

Well, 2 things

1st. Just because your computer is compliant or ready for ipv6 does not mean you will be using it. There are many other factors like your router and cable modem might not be IPv6 ready. Your service provider and even the webpage host might not be ipv6 ready.

2nd. A properly configured ipv6 setup is much more secure than IPv4. It’s likely we’ll see more problems as adoption of IPv6 picks up and people spend more time and effort analyzing how to subvert its built-in security. Similar issues were and still are present in IPv4, and as new problems are uncovered, we’ll need new methods and tools to overcome them

I would be more worried about the security of Windows XP then IPv6

Beware of IPv6 security goblins, IETF warns (By Dan Goodin | Published about 2 hours ago ..): http://arstechnica.com/business/new...oblins-ietf-warns.ars?comments=1#comments-bar

'With World IPv6 Day just six weeks away, security consultants are once again warning that networks transitioning to the Internet's next-generation addressing scheme face serious risks unless they modify their defenses to accommodate the changes.

In a draft proposal filed Tuesday with the Internet Engineering Task Force, a security consultant warned that IPv6 traffic is often able to bypass firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security protections. With the majority of end-user devices now speaking the new language by default, their use may have serious unintended consequences.' ..

.. and on comments: xwindowsjunkie | about 2 hours ago:
'At present I've got IPv6 turned off. The gurus of IP were previously warning all the children (me included) to turn off IPv6 if my ISP wasn't using it. I guess what I'll do is when I can't get to Google, or Yahoo cause they've gone IPv6, then I'll turn it back on because my ISP (Atee&Tee) seems to have buried its head in the sand and not said anything about it.'

Have a nice day!:D
