Here are some settings iOS users can toggle to improve their Privacy on iPhone and iPad. It involves no additional app downloads, all the toggles can be found in the Privacy Settings, and it's up to you whether you want to change them or not.

Settings > Privacy > Analytics

Disable:

• Share iPhone Analytics
• Share iCloud Analytics

Settings > Privacy > Advertising

Enable:

• Limit Ad Tracking

Tap to reset:

• Reset Adverting Identifier

Settings > Privacy > Location Services

Never Allow:

• App Store > Never
• Safari Websites > Never
• Wallet > Never

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services

Disable:

• Location-based Alerts
• Location-based Apple Ads
• Location-based Suggestions
• Significant Locations

Allow your iPhone to learn the places significant to you in order to provide useful location-related information in Maps, Calendar, Photos and more. Significant Locations are encrypted and cannot be read by Apple.

Product Improvements

Disable:

• iPhone Analytics
• Popular Near Me

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services

Enable:

• Status Bar Icon

Show the location services icon in the status bar when the services above are request your location.

These settings are currently present on iPhone 5S running iOS 11.3. Newer updates and devices may differ, but Apple are reasonably clear about the privacy settings.

Some app settings are user dependent, for example, some want location-data in their Photos, or they may want to share location for Find Friends, between trusted people.
