Intel has replaced its mainstream X25-M solid state drive with the 320, which is more than two times faster doing sequential writes.

The 320 uses third-generation 25nm process technology, unlike the 510, which Intel announced earlier this month and which relied on older, second generation 34nm technology. The smaller process size used by the 320 means its dies can have many more cells and, indeed, capacity ranges from 40GB up though 80, 120, 160 to 300GB – and on to a surprisingly high 600GB. The replaced X25-M topped out at 160GB.

Always interesting to observe how these things improve over time, still not ready to switch to SSD though...

SSD needs improvments and mature up. Normal HDD are more accurate and info can be written without worrying; lets say you install Windows and file the SSD with 30GB, those 30GB will not be overwritten and the rest of the free space will be uses instead which is ok but it worries me if use all the free space by reinstalling windows the SSD might be not working as it should and errors will occur.

There are always some issues with new technology but I rarely see early adopters regretting their decision. So it must be worth it.
