what I dislike about IDM is that updates are avaliable upto 1 year only .

what I dislike about IDM is that updates are avaliable upto 1 year only .
really this is big disadvantage !

I bought an IDM license on Feb 2013,still i get free updates

It's ok. Before purchasing a IDM license I contacted their support and asked about updates after 1 year. Dave Saeger from their support told me that currently the updates are free

For 15 years while we sell IDM, we never charged for updates. But we plan to do this in the future. In any case it will consider only updates from one major version to another, for example from version 6 to 7. All security updates in one major version will always be free. And license still will be lifetime. ,,

As I understand if you purchase just before launch of new version it will be free (if 1 year not passed after purchase). But I advise to contact them about this issue. If you want I can give you their support email:
