iPhone 8, all with an overhauled design. iPhones may not be the only iDevices that are expected to entice Apple fans in 2017, as rumors point that the company is also working to launch a 10.5-inch iPad.

10.5-Inch iPad Rumor
Taiwanese publication DigiTimes cites sources in the supply chain and report that Apple is planning to launch the 10.5-inch iPad to attract enterprise and education sectors.

"Apple is launching the 10.5-inch iPad mainly because 10-inch and larger tablets have been popular among enterprises and the education sector in the [United States], the sources said. Its existing 9.7-inch iPad may be too small and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro too expensive for such procurement, the sources indicated," says DigiTimes.

The rumored Apple tablet is expected to come running on the A10X processor, which is used in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The iPad with the new form factor is rumored to go into production as early as December this year.

This is not the first time that Apple has been rumored to launch a 10.5-inch iPad. A Tech Times report from August this year also reported that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believed that Apple will introduce the 10.5-inch iPad sometime in 2017.

Expected Launch Date Of The 10.5-Inch iPad
Apple launched the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in September 2015 and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro in March this year. According to DigiTimes, shipments of the 10.5-inch iPad are estimated to reach 2 million units in the first quarter of 2017 and 5 to 6 million units for the entire year, which hints that Apple may launch the new iPad in the first quarter of 2017.

While throwing a bunch of chicken bones regularly gives a better reading than DigiTimes' rumors, this one is acually believable.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO: "Now we've taken away every single port people direly need from our MacBooks, managed to use an old processor architecture and offset the little efficiency gains by minimizing overall battery power and added $500 to the price tag. I'm really running out of ideas here, what else could we do to prove our innovation potential? Maybe add half an inch to the iPad?"

Sir Jony Ive, Apple CDO: "This is sooo beautiful. Amazing. Add another 0,2" and $800. People will love it."

:p

Honestly increasing the screen size is just getting lame at all unless its justifiable.

8-9 inches is something you can do everything already.

Sometimes the rapid of technology just goes more on downfall and recyclable from present concept.

@jamescv7 what irks me is that this is probably all they can come up with. They've completely lost their wits. There are already iPads, readily available in 7.9", 9.7" and 12.9", covering five different models from iPad mini 2 to the iPad Pro. If 9.7" is too small—well, it's not like 10.5" are gonna take you that much further.

All this in light of tablet sales dropping consistently all over the market, including Apple's offerings.

I just wanted to point out that they lost their mojo at some point. Apple had a history of innovation that pretty much ended 1-2 years ago. Now all they do is make stuff thinner and lighter, which is something every single one of their competitors does as well. Yes they're still having success—not because of their decisions, but in spite of it.
