The Italian police with assistance from the Swiss authorities has arrested three individuals suspected to be Anonymous members yesterday.

One of them, a 26 year-old Italian named Luca Franceschi who allegedly used the online alias of Frey is believed to be the head of the Italian Anonymous chapter. He was arrested at his residence in Ticino, the sourthernmost canton in Switzerland which borders Italy.

Italian police confirmed that 32 raids were carried out in connection with an operation dubbed "Secure Italy."

The investigation started back in January after Anonymous attacked many Italian companies and organizations, including Post, Unicredit, Eni, Finmeccanica, the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies, Palazzo Chigi and others.

Fifteen suspects were questioned following the raids, including five minors, and three of them were arrested. Franceschi is said to have coordinated the attacks from his home computer.

Niceeee....... It's good to see that the authorities are taking very seriously any this crimes..
Cyber criminality is the future so the authorities should face this problem right from the start.
Any arrested Anonymous member is a very good source of information , and will help the police in their quest to bring all criminals in front of the law.

It just goes to show that you're never anonymous on the internet. You can take steps to ensure you're very difficult to track, but if someone has the resources, you will be found.

That's very true Heffe, despite what some people might think.

as i said truly anonymous hackers works for governments or big international companies (for seccret information retrieval or industrial spying) that have lot of ressources to invest in advanced softwares and hardwares; those one cant be found and have total immunity.

Kiddies using Netcat and co. can be traced with a wave of a hand. In addition if a government want shutdown a group of hackers, they just need to offer a bounty and they will caught them; no one refuse big some of money for leaking some info of a rival ^^
