When using Firefox and banking, stay away from Kaspersky, the same goes for Bitdefender.

1. Kaspersky: system / browser freezes

What the problem is

Kaspersky can freeze Firefox or the entire system during online banking because:

  • it hooks deeply into the browser to monitor encrypted traffic
  • it injects code for Safe Money
  • it scans certificates and keyboard input in real time

When Firefox + BankID + the bank’s security scripts all try to control the same session, Kaspersky can deadlock → the browser or system appears frozen.

Typical symptoms

  • Firefox becomes unresponsive
  • whole system lags or freezes
  • bank login never completes
  • only happens on banking sites

Why this happens

Kaspersky’s Safe Money + encrypted traffic scanning conflicts with:

  • Firefox’s sandboxing
  • BankID / bank anti-tampering protections

2. Bitdefender: Safepay window keeps minimizing

What the problem is

This is a known Bitdefender Safepay issue.

Safepay runs in:

  • a hardened virtual browser window
  • strict focus / anti-screenshot mode

When:

  • Firefox is already open
  • a BankID popup tries to take focus
  • Windows focus protection or another security tool intervenes

Safepay loses focus and Windows immediately minimizes it — repeatedly.

Typical symptoms

  • Safepay opens, then minimizes instantly
  • you restore it → it minimizes again
  • makes banking impossible

I have never had any freezing with Firefox along with K, just my point of view...As for my fingers the other day outside that’s different :)

Safe Money / Protected Browser Interference

Kaspersky tries to protect banking sites by opening them in a Protected Browser mode and injecting scripts into the page to secure encrypted connections. This often involves deep integration into the browser’s traffic and certificates.
When Firefox’s sandbox, BankID/security scripts, and Kaspersky’s protective scripts all interact, they can deadlock — causing:

  • Firefox to become unresponsive
  • The whole system to slow or freeze
  • Banking login pages to hang indefinitely

A user-reported explanation on tech forums confirms this behavior, noting Kaspersky can hook deeply into Firefox and banking site traffic, which can lead to freezing when all parties (Firefox, security code, bank scripts) collide.
