As you have mentioned that the scan shows that your HDD contains bad sectors, you may have to confirm it first. Do u have your HP PC working smooth? If yes why don't you connect your Lenovo HDD externally and check its health by using a software called HardDisk Sentinal. It shows exactly what has happened to your hard disk and even the estimated life of the HDD. According to me if it doesn't boot:

Check for the SATA/IDE connections again.
May be damaged OS image.
HDD failure due to bad sectors.
You can replace one Laptop HDD to another only if the connector is of same type, i.e IDE or SATA connectors within the HDD. IDE is the Pin Connectors whereas SATA is like a semi USB type. My suggestion is, check the health of the HDD first before any troubleshooting. Trust Me I am a CSE.
