Thanxx replying guys. As I have already mentioned I dont know much about hardware. This is the first time I have opened a laptop & did couple things. I dont know if HDD is the prob. I am mentioning everything I tried & you guys give your expert suggestions. This is my cousin laptop & he is average user & dont know much. He said something updated & asked for restart & after restart system was not bootable i.e stuck on initial manufacturer i.e Lenovo screen. He showed laptop to some local technician & they said they will have to check it fully & they suspect motherboard prob. I too took it to 2 local technician & they said the same. I tried solutions myself like remove the battery, powercord, external devices, etc... & hold the power button for 30secs-1min, tried removing HDD & reseating, tried removing CMOS, etc... solutions but nothing worked. Accessing BIOS, safe mode, etc... was also not working i.e the same prob stucking on Lenovo screen during boot. Bootable USB, CD, etc... was also not picking up. Then I thought lets see if I can flash BIOS & if it will help. From Lenovo I download latest mentioned BIOS for the laptop model. I made a bootable USB with Rufus & tried to flash BIOS but didn't worked. There was a folder name "Crisis" in the BIOS extracted folder. It had a file named (BIOSName)Bios.cap & a readme file . Readme file mentioned rename BIOS file to Bios.cap, create bootable USB & flash BIOS. I renamed BIOS file to Bios.cap & flashed the BIOS & it worked i.e BIOS flashing started & completed successfully. Now I was able to access BIOS, Bootable USB, etc.. was working. I set BIOS to default, saved & started the system. But the same stuck on Lenovo screen prob. I checked BIOS again & saw BIOS default set Controller to AHCI & on this mode HDD was not detected by BIOS. There are 2 modes here AHCI & Compatible. So I set it to Compatible & HDD was detected by BIOS. But the same prob stuck on Lenovo screen. I tried Bootable Lenovo Diagnostic Tool. It mentioned FAN not available (it seems FAN is working as I can feel the air from the side & laptop is not heating) & bad sectors in HDD, SMART rating was good. I tried Bootable Hirens USB. Tried HDD tools on it. Some mention not for my HDD, some didn't worked, HDAT2 tool gave some error. Tried MiniXP on Hirens. MiniXP booted & desktop was there. I wasn't able to access any partitions. I tried Disk Management. It showed the partitions full i.e C drive 198GB, Used 198 GB, E drive 90GB, Used 90GB, etc... I tried Ultimate Boot USB. Same as Hirens i.e some tools mentioned not for my HDD, some didn't worked. But HDAT2 worked here i.e scan started & detected bad sectors but it seemed like either something is wrong or it will take days-months, etc... So aborted it. Tried Bootable HDD Regenerator. Ran prescan & it completed under an hour & reported 522 bad sectors & delays 1. So I started normal scan that gives option to repair bad sectors, selected repair bad sectors & scan started but after running for few secs there was a message in red HDD is not ready. I tried reseating HDD & started repair bad sectors again but the same message HDD is not ready. If I try to boot the laptop without HDD then it goes past Lenovo screen & I get PXE E61 Media Test Failure. I think this is coz the system doesn't finds HDD or OS & tries to boot from network LAN & so the error & this is not a prob, right? Default boot order is something like top FDD, SSD, HDD, ..............., network. I tried all the above steps with default boot order & also placing internal HDD top. I dont have stuffs to check the HDD externally with other laptop. So I thought trying HP HDD in Lenovo & see how it goes & also Lenovo HDD in HP & see how it goes. If HP HDD works in Lenovo then could be HDD prob, right? And if Lenovo HDD works in HP (which I doubt) then further confusion. But then I can check HDD & other hardware with some tools from within the running OS, right? Couple query- Lenovo had Win 7 Home 64 installed. HP has Win 10 Home 64 installed. No probs using HP HDD on Lenovo, right? Only I think could be Windows will show not activated as HP HDD has Win 10 installed, right? And Lenovo HDD seems to have bad sectors. Using it on my perfectly fine HP laptop will not affect other hardware & also will not affect my Win 10 activation of HP laptop, right? And using HP HDD on Lenovo will not affect HP HDD & data on it in anyway, right? Over to you guys...
