The above steps i.e Parted Magic Disk Eraser completed successfully. I restarted the system & it went past Lenovo screen & after sometime booted to attached USB (HDD is set first in BIOS. To boot from USB I use F12 on the system & it gives multiboot options) As it went past Lenovo screen it gave a ray of hope. So I put Win 7 DVD & booted from DVD. The process was little slow but worked. And after selecting language, etc... I got the window Where you want to install Windows with HDD showing Disc 0 Unallocated Space with options refresh, drive options (advanced), etc... But below a yellow triangle mentioning Windows cannot be installed to this disk (Show details) Show details mention Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to the disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computers BIOS menu. Is this coz Controller is set to AHCI & I have to set it to Compatible? There are 2 options in BIOS AHCI & Compatible.
