For those who run Lubuntu 14.04 there is 2 things that might affect you (don't recall this being an issue in Lubuntu based distros) (only noticed this when i revisted my Lubuntu Installation earlier today for the war room post purposes, that was listed today): 2. Wireless and Wired connections icon in system notification area are not available: This was a "plague", not sure if been patched up on latest version by default, but if not follow the steps below to fix it: - Press the menu icon in the bottom left corner and select "preferences -> default applications for LXSession". - When the LXSession Configuration screen loads up, click on the "Autostart" option in the left pane. - Enter the following text into the "manual autostarted applications" field: nm-applet - Press: "Add". - Reboot (not log off) your computer and issue is fixed. 2. Keyboard layout: UK resident showing US keyboard layout??? Follow the steps below to fix it: - In the system notification area, Right click the keyboard language icon and choose preferences. - The iBus Preference screen will appear. Click on the "Input Method" tab. - Check the box that says "Customise active input methods". - Select the language you require in the drop down and click "Add". - Choose UK and click "Close". US flag icon for keyboard should now reflect UK flag icon.
