What I don't know is a lot and I'm hoping to get more educated here.

I'm sure there some "required reading" to be done here and I will be doing it happily in the time to come.

And then I'll have a gazillion questions ... hopefully none of them stupid but no guarantees.

I started from scratch...

There's no other way than to learn by doing. When it comes to security software the user manuals only cover a small fraction of everything that is going on.

I've had to be patient... and very frustration tolerant... persistent.

There's still a vast amount of knowledge that I must acquire...

I do it one bit at a time... plus, I try to make it fun. When I get bent out of shape, I walk away for a while and then come back.

Practice, participate, search, study... you'd be surprised how much you will learn.
