Apple has just released macOS 14.4.1, a minor update for the latest version of the OS that includes a fix for an issue related to USB hubs. Indeed, the new bits address a bug causing USB hubs connected to external displays to not be recognized by the system.
This update also fixes another issue causing apps that include Java to quit unexpectedly. Additionally, a bug that was preventing copy-protected audio unit plug-ins for professional music apps to not open or pass validation has also been addressed.
macOS 14.4.1 follows the release of iOS 17.4.1 last week. This update, which followed the big changes for iPhone users in the EU brought by iOS 17.4, only included “important bug fixes and security updates” that Apple didn’t detail further.
If you’re still running macOS Ventura, the version 13.6.6 of the OS is also available to download today. Again, the release notes only mention “important bug fixes,” but it’s always recommended to keep your devices up to date.
