Malwarebytes is an anti-malware product from the USA, well known in the world of disinfection.
For several years now, the company has been entering the anti-virus race by combining its know-how with AI Machine Learning detection, and offering shields to respond to threats.
Several developments have taken place, such as improved detection AI Machine Learning to enhance detections and a Cloud system to block more effectively.
I've also activated the "anti-penetration" system, which enables Malwarebytes to block attempts to install malicious code via scripts.
I suspect that Malwarebytes analyzes malware in depth, but we'll see about that in a test run.
User interface :
The Malwarebytes interface is always very pleasant and visually appealing.
Malwarebytes' settings are pretty basic for an engine, but offer several configurations if you want to push it to the limit, at the risk of false positives.
In terms of RAM consumption, Malwarebytes is relatively light on the system.
Web protection: 12/12
Malwarebytes offers excellent Web filtering to block malicious links.
Nothing to say on that score.
Fake crack : 0,75/1
Malwarebytes blocks 2 out of 3 files. .cpl malware installs without detection.
Malware Pack : Remaining 25 files out of 141.
Malwarebytes has some good trump cards, blocking several scripts I've sent it thanks to its anti-penetration system (ATP), but letting some through all the same.
The machine is infected.
It's also important to remember that Malwarebytes is not a fully-fledged antivirus and should not be used on its own.
A worm even launches several instances of itself, saturating memory! (Unicorn)
Final scan :
Malwarebytes : 3
Autoruns : 4
NPE : 1
KVRT : 6
Final opinion:
Malwarebytes is a versatile and relatively effective anti-malware program for what it does.
It does, however, have its weaknesses, as it is not antivirus software in the strict sense of the term.
It will be a good asset to complete your protection, but should never be used on its own.
