Hi! I'm new here and kinda noob. I wish you guys can give me some advice. I still have many doubts, specially about backups. I'm not sure if the solution I'm using (RollBack Rx Home) is reliable and also if it is really backing up my data alongside with sistem images.

Thanks!

Hello to you, Marcos, welcome on MT!
Which malware attacks that you've had, and how, by which way, why
- and take a look at the Browsers & Extensions section...
Thanks for the answer. I installed a "cracked" game and the PC wouldn't even boot after it. Unfortunately I have no more info about it. Since then I started using Steam instead of alternative ways...

I would upgrade to Windows 10. It is worth the security updates.
I'm considering the upgrade, since I have an unused licence. Haven't upgraded yet because I'm afraid of losing performance on my current PC (Core i3 with only 4GB ram).

Although I keep the sistem up to date, I don't feel confident using it.

What version of Kaspersky Internet security are you using? 2017? 2018?
I would definitely consider upgrading to Windows 10.and stay away from cracks and keygens.
What browser are you using?
Replace AdBlock Plus with uBlock Origin
Consider using a Password manager.
Backup important data to an external drive and don't rely solely Rollback.
Thanks for sharing your config and have a happy and healthy 2018 :)

KIS 18.0.0.405 (f) and Google Chrome 63.0.3239.108.
I seems it is time I stop postponing this OS upgrade. What will happen to my AV if I only upgrade the OS instead of making a clean install?
I'll replace my adblock and look for a free password manager.

Thank you very much for the suggestions.

Enable OS File Reputation, it can be fundamental to prevent infections.

Replace Adblock with uBlock Origin.

Add HTTPS Everywhere.

Thanks for sharing.

@Marcos Milton: please reflect the new changes editing Your config and announcing them here :)

Please consider:

- UAC -> always notify.

- Turn On -> OS File Reputation (SmartScreen).

- Complete the lack of info in some config fields.

- And the already mentioned suggestions about update Your system to W10, on demand scanners and browsers extensions.

Tthanks for sharing :)

Thanks. I made some updates. I believe almost everything is done already. Not sure about SmartScreen. Is it enabled by default?

You should look into a system backup, Rollback is great, but it's a data backup.

If you want to stick with free, Macrium Reflect works well but it's not overly compatible with Rollback. I'd recommend springing a bit more for Drive Cloner Rx, that's fully compatible with Rollback, and can backup not only your system, but also your snapshots from Rollback too!

Very nice. It sounds great! Thanks.
