McAfee (an Intel company) is one of the top-tier names when it comes to security. The new McAfee Social Protection for Facebook carries (or at least attempts to) carry the tradition forward. The app will be made available as a public beta at the end of this month. The Social App adds another layer of privacy to your Facebook photos. When you upload your photos using the app, you can blur out specific photos and thumbnails and make them indistinguishable to the contacts you don’t want to open it up to.
Also, if you want it so, your friends can view the pictures but they can’t ever download them. The McAfee Social Protection app disables the save, download and even the use a screen capture tool to grab your picture. Instead, the screen capture tool will only record a blank space. As McAfee says – your photos stay your photos.
McAfee’s new app for Facebook fills in the space between a user’s unrestrained use of Facebook as a photo-sharing platform and Facebook’s nearly perplexing privacy features. The Social Protection app should make it more user friendly. You can subscribe now and McAfee will let you know when the app becomes available.
