Meta is working on a way to offer end-to-end encryption on WhatsApp and Messenger while still complying with the EU's Digital Markets Act. This act requires Meta to enable interoperability with other services within three months of a request. However, the actual public implementation might take longer. Initially, this will only cover one-on-one chats and file sharing, with group chats and calls to be included later.
