MeyeProtect is an African antivirus from Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Created by Stephane Meye in 2017, the software relies on rules via AI Machine Learning to detect malware.
Let's take a look...
User interface :
MeyeProtect's interface is fairly basic, but easy to find.
MeyeProtect also redirects to Windows functions such as Windows Update, which is great for those who want to manage everything from within the product.
On the other hand, it's clear that the antivirus is still in the development stage, as several functions are not yet available... (such as MeyeVPN, which is not yet available, or anti-ransomware, which has to be paid for! )
In RAM, the software is fairly light but relatively slow to detect...
Web protection: 8/11
MeyeProtect does not offer Web filtering, but rather analyzes downloaded files.
The score is close to average, with good reactions, but large infections still go undetected.
Fake crack : 1/1
MeyeProtect removed it at launch.
Malware Pack : Remaining 208 files out of 208.
This is the 1st time I've seen this in 3 years of testing, an analysis score of.... 0 !
In other words, the analysis is useless...
So I decided to run the 208 samples, which took a long time.
And I quickly conclude: The protection provided by MeyeProtect is very poor.
In fact, while it's being checked, the infection isn't stopped, so the malware has time to make its move before the final decision is made.
And that's a long time!
Secondly, when MeyeProtect judges a piece of malware to be “clean”, it doesn't propose any backup plans to prevent malicious behavior...
The machine dies before the end of the test, completely infected.
Final scan :
NPE : 25
Malwarebytes : 71
KVRT : MeyeProtect detects it as malicious... (even though it was brand new)
Final opinion:
What to say...
MeyeProtect is a totally unknown antivirus, based on AI Machine Learning, which could be a good solution.
Except that it's very poorly exploited.
The software suffers from huge misses and slow detections, and relying too much on its engine is totally inadequate.
It offers no other shield to defend itself.
Naturally, MeyeProtect is not recommended.
