Microsoft has added a VPN service to Microsoft Personal and Family subscriptions. It is available as part of the subscription plan, which means that there are not any additional costs.

Here are the details:
  • Available as part of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions.
  • Supports the platforms Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
  • Requires the Microsoft Defender app.
  • Limited to the countries United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada.

Microsoft Defender VPN is retiring on Windows 11, macOS, Android and iOS
Microsoft has confirmed Microsoft Defender VPN (privacy-protection feature) is being retired on Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS, Android, and iOS. Starting February 28, 2025, the Microsoft Defender VPN feature will stop working, and Microsoft will turn it off for everyone. But why is it getting removed? Likey due to low usage.

In a support document spotted by Windows Latest, Microsoft confirmed that the privacy protection (VPN) feature within Defender is going away on February 28, 2025.
