Microsoft has started testing various improvements to the Phone Link integration in the Windows 11 Start Menu. Windows Insiders on the Beta and Dev Channels can now connect their iPhone or Android phone right from the Start Menu, and it’s also now possible to send files across your devices right from the Start menu.
First of all, the Phone Link panel at the right side of the Start Menu will now invite Insiders to connect their phones so they can keep up with calls, texts, and other recent activities right from the flyout menu. This should also help to make these Phone Link features more easily discoverable.
For iPhone users, this new Phone Link update also enables the same phone features on the Start Menu that were already available with Android phones. That includes quick access to messages and calls, battery and connectivity indicators, and recent activities.
Lastly, Insiders can now test sending files from their PC to their phone right from the Start Menu. A new “Send files” button has been added at the bottom of the new panel to initiate the file transfer.
Please be aware that these new Phone Link improvements will be rolling out gradually to Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels. These features also require a device with Bluetooth LE capability.
