In addition to the Windows 10 Creators Update due on April 11 for PCs, Microsoft has been working on a big update for the Xbox One and Xbox One S as well, and today, all these improvements become available for everyone.
After testing the Creators Update with help from Xbox insiders for several months, Microsoft is pushing the green light for retail users too, with improvements like the new home, multitasking and Beam integration finally up for grabs.
The Creators Update doesn’t bring on Xbox as many improvements as it does on PC, but it’s still an update that all gamers should install, as it includes several new features that are without a doubt really welcome.

The Creators Update doesn’t bring on Xbox as many improvements as it does on PC, but it’s still an update that all gamers should install, as it includes several new features that are without a doubt really welcome.
What’s new on the Xbox?
First and foremost, there’s the new Home, which Microsoft developed in an attempt to simplify the UI and boost performance. The interface was designed in a way that prioritizes your content, the company says in pure PR language, so there’s a new small icon for the game with options to access the community or view achievements. When no backgrounds are configured, the new Home uses the game you are playing to set hero art as wallpaper.
The Guide has also been improved to be faster and more intuitive, and you get quick access to Games and Apps, Home, Store, and recently launched apps. There are easier-to-use options to capture screenshots and record videos too.
Cortana, multitasking, and Beam support for watching and chatting with others are also part of this update, and you can look in the My Games and Apps section to find the new Beam viewing app.
And last but not least, this update brings screen time limits on the Xbox One, a feature that’s particularly aimed at parents, as well as Blu-ray player bitstream passthrough and new accessibility features such as the Copilot that makes two controllers to act like one.
This update is already available right now for all Xbox One gamers, while those on PC need to wait until April 11 to get the Creators Update.
