Microsoft has revealed that it has made some big changes to its desktop UI for Windows 8, which includes moving away from Aero Glass — the UI first introduced with Vista. According to the company, this means visual changes that include "flattening surfaces, removing reflections, and scaling back distracting gradients."

Despite all of these changes with the interface, the company doesn't appear to be worried about the issue of "learnability." Instead, Microsoft believes that with a little help it won't take long for users to adapt to the new operating system. "We will help people get off on the right foot," the company explained in a blog post, "and we have confidence that people will quickly find the new paradigms to be second-nature."

How could they drop it. I love the Aero Glass. You can customise it alot compared to just the basic.

Aero glass is a drain on resources. May be something else will replace it. Anyways Ms aero cant beat Compiz fusion on linux.

It might be but that is what gives the OS it's looks.

It won't be long before someone talented creates a patch/hack that re-enables Aero, Possibly shared on DeviantART in the future. But if that's not possible or doesn't happen, I can easily adapt to this change, No big deal to me personally.

They should have people choose when they setup the system (with a description and picture) of either aero or basic theme. In my opinion Microsoft is making too many changes to the OS.

The 8 CP basic theme is more customizable as compared to Windows 7, but I dont know about its future.
Does anyone knows what will be the name for this UI? :D

Change isn't always beautiful. Would it have been beautiful if in the U.S. if congress passed the Protect-IP bill.

Samit, McLovin, and MrXidus don't seem like they like the drop of aero either.

Change can be good but depends on what the change is.

I just don't want it dropped because you can customise it. Like MrXidus said, there will be someone out there that will find a hack that will re-enable the Aero.

I'm going to guess that Aero will be disabled by dafault, with the option to still enable it if the user wants it. I don't think they will remove it completely.

Actually I'm completely neutral about this.

The Release Preview is right around the corner, I'm going to wait till it releases, download and install as my native OS then judge what I think about it. :)

I mean to say we should make our-self change adopter because change is the rule of nature and without change life is nothing else than hell.
We should not fear what the change in future will bring for us,let the Change come and if we like that we will adopt it otherwise we have other option too

Actually I personally disable aero and use the basic theme cause time and again it has been proved that the basic theme is more stable than the aero theme.
I would appreciate removal of aero if customizability options are improved by MS. Xidus if they total scrap all of aero's DWM no patch would be able to renebale it except that you have to port those files from W7. Maybe they do give an option for transperent windows.
Lets not jump to conclusions and wait for the next build.

Am I the only one that likes that new window?A little Metro style for the Windows 8 Desktop version wouldn't be that bad..
If I had to 'unlike something' would be lack of the Windows orb....... :dodgy:

I like the look of the new Window, but I would not like them to drop the Aero feel.

For others they don't mind the interface caused it isn't become an issue at all. They want likely on performance.

Aero Glass will make it a good looking OS due to graphical usage style that makes the user more interesting to use.
