MSE + UAC + Windows Firewall is excellent protection.

When is the last time that anyone has seen any malware be able to bust through UAC? For example look at all of the Youtube videos where they test malware samples, they first allow it through UAC then when Windows File checker says the file is not digitally signed they still allow it to run anyway. So the user had to manually run the malware through two stages of protection in order to get infected. I really don't see the point if your AV didn't detect the sample when two separate protection stages did warn you about the file.

Malware can not function unless you allow it to get by UAC.
Everyone seems to forget that Microsoft does provide UAC which is the best protection you system can get.

So maybe some users don't pay attention and click allow on an infected file, that is not Microsoft's fault, that is their fault for not being aware.

Microsoft gives you the tools and even explains how to use them in detail, they are not responsible if you fail to utilize them correctly.

Thanks.:D

It only makes sense to me that MSE is a good product. Microsoft has more to lose than any other company, and their reputation lies on the ability to secure their software, therefore, I believe that MSE is better than most people give it credit for.

It is good to see Microsoft finally is starting to stand up to these AV testing sites, more AV vendors should do the same. For so long Microsoft keep silent every time some AV testing site failed MSE or gave it low scores. Now it looks like Microsoft has had enough of these fake money influenced AV testing sites.
They have the money and power to provide information to make them start doing some honest AV testing. Unlike third-party AV vendors Microsoft has nothing to gain by faking AV test results, their total goal is to stop the spread of malicious software. Back in Dec 2012 MSE took the lead in the AV market over passed Avast. They have one of the largest malware information centers in the world now since MSE/ Windows Defender collects malware data and sends it back to Microsoft. It won't be too much longer before a lot of the skeptics will have to accept the facts that MSE/ Windows Defender are an excellent products.

Thanks.:D

Maybe Microsoft is stepping up MSE due to the recent release of Windows 8. That would be good incentive to do so. McLovin did that test of MSE the other day. It seemed to perform much better than I had witnessed in the last year or so.

It has bad and good days. Must of been the day I did that test, MSE was having a good day, because I bet if I went to test it again, the result will be different. :P
