A quick note for administrators of Microsoft SharePoint Online who have not noticed this. From June 2025, Microsoft will be migrating this service to a new Content Delivery Network (CDN). There will also be a new domain under which Microsoft SharePoint Online will be accessible.

Microsoft already announced this at the beginning of May 2025 under the ID MC1066155 (Microsoft SharePoint Online: [Important update] Enabling a new Public Content Delivery Network (CDN) domain) in the Microsoft 365 Message Center.

Microsoft will migrate the hosting of Microsoft SharePoint Online assets to a new CDN (Content Delivery Network) service, Microsoft Azure Front Door (AFD). This migration will begin in June 2025 and end in July 2025.

As part of this migration, Microsoft is introducing a new public CDN domain public-cdn.sharepointonline.com. Organizations should add the new domain public-cdn.sharepointonline.com to their allowlist on the network.
