Microsoft has issued a notification in the official documentation to warn users that those two operating systems have only 90 days of support remaining. After that, Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2 will stop getting updates, security patches, and fixes.

It is worth noting that Windows 11 21H2 is already out of support for regular consumers. The only versions still getting updates are Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise. As for version 22H2, Microsoft will stop updating Home and Pro editions.
The end of support for Windows 11 versions 21H2 and 22H2 also means that users with non-managed devices will be updated to version 23H2 automatically to remain in the supported state.

"To help keep you protected and productive, Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update for Windows 11 business devices not managed by IT departments when these are nearing end of servicing. Moving to Windows 11, version 23H2 keeps your device supported and receiving monthly updates that are critical to security and ecosystem health."

Microsoft informs Windows 11 21H2 / 22H2 PCs will be force-updated to 23H2 next month
Microsoft has issued a new 30-day reminder about the upcoming end of servicing (EoS) of Windows 11 versions 21H2 (Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise) and 22H2 (Home and Pro).

The company has stated that an automatic forced update to version 23H2 will be initiated after the next Patch Tuesday (October 8, 2024) and is meant to keep such devices updated with the latest security updates and alike.

On its Windows health dashboard website, Microsoft writes:
On October 8, 2024, Windows 11, version 21H2 (Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions) and Windows 11, version 22H2 (Home and Pro editions) will reach end of servicing. The upcoming October 2024 security update, to be released on October 8, 2024, will be the last update available for these editions. After this date, devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats.

To help keep you protected and productive, Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update for Windows 11 Home and Pro devices that are not managed by IT departments when these are nearing end of servicing. Moving to Windows 11, version 23H2 keeps your device supported and receiving monthly updates that are critical to security and ecosystem health.

Microsoft ends Windows 11 22H2 and 21H2 support

Microsoft dropped support for two Windows 11 versions: 21H2 and 22H2. If your computer is still on one of those releases, it is time to upgrade to something more recent.

Starting with Windows 11 version 21H2, it is now completely unsupported. For those unaware of Windows 11 support policies, Microsoft has two lifecycles for each Windows release: one 24-month for Home and Pro editions and one 36-month for Enterprise and Education editions. The software giant stopped updating Windows 11 version 21H2 for "regular consumers" in October 2023. Now, it is dropping corporate and education users who are still on the original Windows 11 release from late 2021.

Enterprise customers can upgrade to Windows 11 version 22H2, which has one more year of active support ahead of it. Other options include version 23H2 (two more years of support) and the just-released version 24H2 (three years of support from now).

As for Windows 11 version 22H2 for Home and Pro SKUs, they will not receive any updates starting from today.
