The Windows 8 Consumer Preview was released just under two months ago by Microsoft on February 29th, but a new claim by the company says the number of people using the preview version of the OS is already past that of the Windows 7 beta release at the same time period for both versions. In a post on the official Windows 8 Twitter page, Microsoft stated:

Microsoft said:

Well when there's a new features on any upcoming release its really normal to overcome the number of used beta latest OS than previous. The more exciting taste is much better. ;)

When I read the title for once second my heart sank as I understood that Win8 resource usage was over twice thar of win7 but the rest of the article laid my fear to rest.

I'm perfectly happy with windows 7 and the money we spent at work to upgrade from XP was ridiculous. I'm going to wait until at least Windows 9, so that's what a 1 1/2 years away. It's like trying to keep up with Firefox revisions every 2 weeks it's a new number, end of the year we will see ads for firefox 27
