Suggestions:
  • Set UAC to Always Notify
  • Lessen the amount of on-demand scanners (HitmanPro, Zemana and Malwarebytes are enough together)
  • Switch Adblock Plus to uBlock Origin or Adguard (Both are lighter and more effective at blocking by default)
  • Remove Ghostery (Unnecessary with an ad blocker)
  • Consider using a 3rd-party password manager to generate and store unique passwords for each of your accounts (LastPass, KeePass, Dashlane, etc.)
Thanks for sharing. :)

hi, thank you all for your comments.

I modified avast settings as per the paranoid one's link.
I have been using avast + malwarebytes anti-malware for years. I only recently looked at using some other on-demand scanners for additional peace of mind. out of
HitmanPro_X64
Zemana Antimalware portable
adwcleaner 7.0
Junkware Removal Tool
Tdsskiller
Comodo cleaning essentials
RogueKiller portable64

which do you recommend to keep?

Hi Mkoundo and feel Welcome at MWT! :)
I will reply almost exactly like Ttto,
and Kudos for Your Nice setup over the Whole nine yards. :)
Ttto is correct that 1 or 2 on demands should give grounds for solid sleep,
but I personally am an on demand collector and I have and enjoy using a Whole bunch of them. :D
If Everything Good is Three, and I had to choose Three, I
would personally pick out the following Three from Your list:
Zemana, AdwCleaner, and do a lucky spin on Junkware Tool(I have not tried or heard of it before, but it sounds refreshing).
Also, if You are concerned about Your own privacy and thoroughly
and forensically wish to pull out some old deep and forgotten junkroots, ccleaner_x_3 _style,
please consider the fresh breeze from a nice donationware_freeware
named PrivaZer. I tried it yesterday as I saw it mentioned here at MWT,
and i must admit that it impressed me a lot! :)

Privazer is very good indeed, but takes forever to do a clean up. CCleaner's good too, and as long as you don't use the registry cleaner, you're good to go:)

thanks for all your helpful tips. I implemented the following:
1. hardened avast + other changes as per the link provided by paranoid one
2. replaced adblock plus with ublock origin (no issues moving my outlook.com filters across) , removed ghostery
3. kept MBAM, EEK, zemana AM portable
4. UAC set to maximum
5. still deciding between last pass and keepass

regards
