Mushkin's Atlas 480GB mSATA SSD is small in size but big in capacity.

Mushkin will start shipping what it claims is the world's first 480GB capacity mSATA solid state drive (SSD) in January 2013, the company announced this week. Unlike traditional SSDs, mSATA (Mini-SATA) drives are much smaller and sport a connector that looks similar to a PCI Express Mini Card interface that's even electrically compatible, though the data signals need to be fed to the SATA host controller.

mSATA drives are commonly found in slim profile mobile devices such as Ultrabooks (Intel), Ultrathins (AMD), and tablets. Despite their small size, mSATA SSDs can run fast and, in this case, store tons of data.[...]

I imagine the price is worth the speed and storage for Ultra books and tablets.But like processors & video cards that are pricey on release,if you wait a little while they usually come down a bit.Comparatively a SSD 500GB Internal hard drive is around $500 and a SSD 60 to 120 GB for a laptop is around $75-80,so the price seems pretty fair for what your getting

Mushkin has always provided premium products. As such, they are usually priced a bit higher than average.

I've been a fan of Mushkin RAM for years.
