Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Can you now boot to Normal windows?

Yes, sorry I always could boot to normal windows. I just ran that fix in normal windows actually. I had gone to safe mode just to minimise the amount of processes running.
After running the fix the problems appear to be the same i.e. no internet access and antivirus disabled.

I see you have VPN program on your PC.

Private Internet Access

Do you have wired or wireless connection?

Hi, I have a wired connection only. I do have A VPN program installed however every time I have ever used it, it has slowed my internet connection down to a crawl and I have never been able to find a configuration that was particularly useful, so I never actually use it.

Hi there,
I thought that it might be easiest if I just take my machine to someone local who can work out the issue. I havent gotten it back yet and I am not exactly filled with confidence about his abilities, but he did report that he didnt have any problems getting the computer online. So I am not sure if that means that the problem is with my network cable or my router, but that doesnt really explain why my antivirus services were being disabled.
I did try using troubleshoot problems, and there were no problems found.
I guess I will just need to wait to get the computer back and see what the status is then.

Thank you.
