Seriously??? After testing, He only ran HitmanPro as a second opinion scanner??????? 🤦‍♂️🙄

We ditched HitManPro in Hub because rarely found leftovers/remnants in our tests, in general also it can only detect exe files, but not other types of malware -> scripts, office docs, java, etc...

Also, I'm not sure, but HitManPro, in the past, used engine from Kaspersky but only for exe files, but They removed it. Don't know if still uses Bitdefender engine, so He is using to check if system is infected a product that probably also uses the same engine as the tested product 🤷‍♂️🙄 -> "success is assured"...

True. I also noticed that HitmanPro can't pick up malicious scripts in its scans. And yea, it only uses Bitdefender and Sophos engine. Not the optimal choice for a second opinion scan...

While I have respect for Leo and my fellow testers, I don't watch those videos anymore...

Using Hitman Pro against scripts is completely useless (at home, Hitman was used for the last time on Gdata, will be replaced by another antimalware) .

Then, I'm not as hype about his videos as I used to be, I'm tired of them...

( MalwareTips is better :D <3 )

bit defender free fails badly at my current test (1000 samples) I didn't even let the test complete.......
  • I could see stuff running in process explorer
  • I could see active connections using currports
  • process explorer was then killed and i couldn't restart it
  • using task manager could still see active running exes
  • my IDS fired off a couple of alerts with trojan/ C&C connections to russia and germany
  • CPU usage of BD is ridiculous
BD-IDS.jpg
the performance of the machine goes to absolute trash, which would be fine if it was blocking everything, but it was missing so much.....

yes it may of eventually been able to clean itself up, but I prefer NEVER to even let the executables run ...... didn't let it finish... wouldn't recommend.

Emsisoft which uses bit defenders signatures does a much better job on this test! (but paid) - if you are looking for a free 3rd party simple AV, Avast free Aces my test 100% every sample blocked. 0 executions (and no cpu usage hit!)

but once again this test is not realistic on day to day usage, its a hard test to pass & BD free is a fail from me.
gif of the test up to the time I stopped it is HERE its around 37.7mb

Instead of all this text and some screens , why not make a video like @Shadowra and show proof. You always say, stopped it, never let it finish… but we never see any test from you in action ???

download the gif above and you can see for yourself, every bit of proof is there, or wait for shadowras video

I just saw the GIF, the 2 malwares I saw in the task manager are LokiBot and AZoRult, Trojans however quite known o_O

I didn't know the system of execution of samples via CMD, but I think that considering the consumption, it must have delayed ATP...
After that it's a hypothesis.

Why a gif and not make a real video , gif is from the 80’s

Whether in video or GIF, the format is the same ;)
It's true that I like video a lot, but GIF is hard to fake, because it would show.

The only thing I noticed was the power consumption of Bitdefender and the running script, which must have slowed down the disinfection actions of Bitdef.

hi, the command line is quite simple to just run all .exe in a folder 1 by 1.... it waits for each to run or fail before the next (so they are not all ran at the same time)
for %1 in (c:\samples\*.exe) do "%1"

I'd prefer video and i wouldnt really want to sit watching a gif either! i get the point this could be better done with more time spent.
but i dont have the time for editing/uploading, a quick gif i keep just as proof of a test.

You will forgive me, but you do a half test. If you look bitdefender blocks most of the samples with access denied, considering it's 1000 samples. Avast has all its modules active in the free version, however bitdefender, kaspersky and others with free versions have several options blocked. You didn't let the script finish, you didn't do a manual scan with bitdefender and you didn't restart the computer. Bitdefender and various AVs remove the malware once the computer is rebooted. Greetings.
