New Here - Have Trojan, Can't Travel

My wife's work computer was hit by the smartcheck trojan. An associate of here is an IT. He took her to Maoware Tips for the solution.

I, on the other hand, got hit by what appears to be a similar trojan, called Arc something or other. I comes up unpredictably - inviting me to buy their Internet protection racket fee.

I'm hoping I'll be able to find a removal procedure here - as I've been singularly unsuccessful with anything else.
