Microsoft is urging administrators to patch their machines after it discovered a vulnerability that could allow hackers to take complete control of PCs running Windows and potentially pave the way for the next Conficker worm or worse.

No, this won't be nearly as bad as Conficker. By default users are not effected by this exploit, only people who explicitly turn the service on are. Patch management has improved since the days of conficker as well.

What's much more interesting is that someone at MS or one of their partners leaked the POC of the exploit and now there's a file you can run that instantly BSODs a computer on the network.
