Hi, all !
This is my third attempt since registering today to get a post to "take." Perhaps this one will make it. I'm hoping all you cyber experts may be able to assist me in eradicating the "FBI-MoneyPak" ransomeware virus that has hijacked my desktop (Dell Dimension 3000, with MS' antique XP HE SP3, 80GB hard drive w/ 512 MB RAM).
I've read much of the available literature re overcoming this malware, but haven't thus far been able to take advantage of the proposed fixes because the virus has hijacked all of the security settings in the C drive -- Safe Mode, System Restart, boot sequence from peripheral drives and USB ports, etc. So before getting too much further into the weeds, I'm hoping someone with greater expertise can advise how to get something like Kaspersky, HitmanPro, and Malwarebytes -- all programs I've downloaded either on disc or flash drive -- to boot and do their things. As it stands, the CPU when booted from Set-Up doesn't even recognize Primary Drive 1 !
I'd appreciate any assistance you professionals can provide.
Thanks and regards,
Kimm
