Have not had any problems on my end (yet) but just look at all the 1st page threads at Norton Community Forum at those that are.

Got my Kaspersky rescue disk updated and ready to go.

I have been a Norton fan for quite sometime but this has me somewhat concerned. I do not stay on top of these problems as much as many of you here so I'm wondering if this is happening across the board with the other top AntiVirus venders.

It is the same elsewhere; see the Avira forum for example:

Aviras name for the same trojan is W32/Patched

with an HIPS you should be safe, since you deny the unknown.

Except when you're install a program that unknowingly has ZeroAccess, it's possible?

One of the replies by Quads, the volunteer helping remove the infections for Norton users on the forum.
From malware removal forums and teams on there, it has been noted by them and myself. ALL AV's are struggling with zeroaccess ( other detection names for the same group).

That answers that.

And at least Norton is detecting them.

it depend your settings, for example if you automatically allows trusted installers or not, but normally D+ will detect the inappropriate behavior of ZeroAccess (registry changes, COM access, etc..), then shows a popup.
I remember when i installed Nitro PDF that was flagged as unknown, i had to allow more than a dozen alerts from D+, since it add/modify many files.

I wonder how would ESET HIPS react to it, to be honest. It is known that its HIPS has more alerts than other products, to a stage that can drive a user mad and switch to Learning or automatic (if previously the user changed the initial Automatic settings...).

Bd has started missing Trojans on my pc. Bye BD.

That's normal with all Antivirus software.

If your expectations are that high, then using a standalone AV is the wrong solution for you.
