Polaris Office is a free office service that runs on platforms such as Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop. It is capable of editing Microsoft Office file formats (doc/docx, hwp, ppt/pptx, txt, xls/xlsx) and viewing PDF files. With beautiful docs, spreadsheets, and multimedia presentations, you can quickly create, manage, and re-use content across any platform. Discover what an all-in-one office suite is supposed to be.
All files saved in Polaris Office are synchronized with other connected devices, and thus documents are automatically updated to the latest version. It also provides a variety of cloud storage services such as Box.net, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. Moreover, Polaris Office has an agent program that allows uploading and downloading documents from a desktop computer to a mobile device.
Download: Polaris Office 7.1.161 | 162.0 MB (Freeware, requires free e-mail registration)
View: Polaris Office Home Page
I've tested it for a bit
Pros :
It's fast, it's free (email registration required), it's compatible with Office 2003-2016 formats. It has most of features of MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, installation took 2min and extracted size is ~220mb on the disk. Nice interface, nice ClearType compatibility and integration. Can open PDF documents. Has build in Math Equation and Symbol characters. Can sync documents across devices through your account.
Cons:
Cannot export to PDF. If you open .docx document it can only export to .docx ; pptx to pptx ; doc to doc, etc. You randomly notice that some features like annotating, some review and manipulating tools in Excel and Word are turned off, editing PDF (no hard editing, just underline, selection, comment etc) is not possible, and it will ask you to upgrade to Pro version to enable these features. Cannot properly open, due formatting differences, some presentations, and html files.
Conclusion :
Its good product for being free and still in Beta... If you want free MS Office alternative, with similar interface I think Polaris may fit your needs. WPS Office is still better in my opinion, well, at least when they had a real free version.
