Guys, want a cold shower? The speeds above 2 Gb/s are useless and everyone that has higher internet package just pays more for something they could never use to the full. We're not in 2010's, we're in 2024. Internet speed isn't the limiting factor anymore, it's the computer (or any other device) hardware and the quality of ISP connection. 1. issue: web server connection If you have 25 Gb/s speed, and the server you're downloading from has 10 Gb/s connection (which is actually the case most of the times), you can only download at 10 Gb/s and that's in ideal condition server isn't busy by other clients, only you. 2. issue: hardware limit You can only download files at the speed your HDD/SSD works. You may have 100 Tb/s network connection, but if your drive is only capable of writing at 125 MB/s, then you won't be downloading any faster. Also, you'd need fast CPU to handle all the workload. 3. issue: quality of your ISP routing Let's say your ISP uses low quality routes to the specific server and you have bunch of lost packets, high latency etc. Your speed won't help you with that. But higher quality route will. To download a file, you'll have to use a VPN server to go with different route, but again, none of the VPN servers will have bandwidth to let you surf with 25 Gb/s speed. 4. issue: censored web @FALLEN Obviously, lives in Turkey where common occurence is nationwide censorship of the web. To get around it, he has to use VPN. As I already said, this reduces your actual speed DRASTICALLY. So what's the point in having that speed when you're surfing the web at way slower speed. This isn't just a case in Turkey, it's the norm in all authoritarian countries. 5. issue: you don't really need it You don't really need anything above 2 Gb/s and even that's extreme. 1 Gb/s is more than enough for large family house with large number of devices. Even if everyone streamed at 4K, there'll still be a lot of bandwidth left. And no, you don't need to download Steam game at 25 Gb/s, Steam probably couldn't even handle that speed so it will always download at lower speed. The only valid use for speeds higher than 1 Gb/s would be if you have a server connected to the internet; otherwise there really isn't any use. So, guys, don't be jelaous. At least you're not paying for something that you can't use. And keep in mind that speed doesn't indicate quality of the connection; you can have high speed connection which constantly breaks or censors the web.
