The computer seems to be running less sluggishly, and there are no longer multiple COM Surrogate items listed in Task Manager. I have seen a COM Surrogate briefly appear in Task Manager and then disappear. Is that normal? A new problem seems to have arisen. This PC has two user accounts on it. Within the account where the malware/COM Surrogate issues started, there are problems with the browsers. When trying to use Chrome, the message "Unable to connect to proxy server" appears, while in Firefox, it says "The proxy server is refusing connections." I should note (in case this matters) that I ran all the above scans using my account (the administrative one), not the one from which the malware originated.
