I guess I should update here, I did try the new Kaspersky Free yesterday and at first it was very good, I liked the changes they made to it. Then I found it does not support Vivaldi. I have been tinkering around with Vivaldi again the last few weeks and learned a lot about how it works and how to set it up the way I like it. Kaspersky does not do much in Vivaldi though, it let the Eicar test file right in, did not even flag it or the AMTSO phishing test page at all. I tried the Kaspersky browser protection extension but never could get it to work in Vivaldi, Edge or Chrome. I didn't try it in Firefox. No matter how I tried I never could get the browser extension to work. I hate to be so fickle about it but I can not see any sense in keeping an AV or other program/utility if it does not do what I need it to do. I know Kaspersky is still a great AV, it has some of the strongest protection available and no single AV is 100% perfect but I scrapped it anyway. I have had a few problems with WD lately, mostly slowdowns here and there and plus I just wanted to see how a different AV might work. I am now trying out the Free Avast One Essential and so far I am very impressed with it. It has some good features, is much lighter on my laptop than WD ever was and it works great in all browsers. Avast also has so far not tried to scare me into paying for bloatware scans I do not need. I don't know how to test malware other than the Eicar and AMTSO tests but Avast immediately detected both in all of the browsers I use. The GUI takes a little getting used to with all its goofy pictures but that is OK. I am looking forward to seeing how this goes. C.H.
