AVLab.pl Product Enquiry - Which products should we test in your opinion?

Disclaimer
  1. This test shows how an antivirus behaves with certain threats, in a specific environment and under certain conditions.
We encourage you to compare these results with others and take informed decisions on what security products to use.
Before buying an antivirus you should consider factors such as price, ease of use, compatibility, and support. Installing a free trial version allows an antivirus to be tested in everyday use before purchase.

Dears!

This is a completely non-committal thread, but we are keen for your feedback please!

We would like to know your recommendations in the following category - which software should be tested by AVLab in the near future? The software doesn't have to be from the big players:

  • Cathegory 1: EDR-XDR/SIEM software only (EDR-XDR evaluation test).
  • Cathegory 2: Anti-Malware/EDR/XDR products. Everyday Protection for Windows 10/11, Corporate Users and Home Users (which may be included to the Advanced In The-Wild Malware Test)
  • Cathegory 3: Software for Banking Protection when you surrfing the Internet, buying something, doing bank transfers. Mainly the software for home users and Windows platform.
Can we ask you for your opinions, please?

Greetings for Everyone!

Would the banking protection be a updated version of the 2023 test, maybe including Kaspersky Safe Money? That was a nice test.

Next gen corporate AI solutions like Harmony, deep instinct etc. But also add a resource impact score if possible.

Since looking into the future that will most likely be an eventual direction that home user AVs will take. I.e. Harmony and Zone alarm

Vipre was just discussed here in the forum.
I have already read in another topic, thanks. They contacted us last year but didn't tajke part the test, they refused.

Microsoft Defender and Avira.
Avira refuses participation.
From time to time we test MS Defender, we can include the software in upcoming edition.

Thanks for the proposal.
Enterprise software requires a licence, account. There is usually no trial version. We will have to contact with them about this, so no promises that we will get a licence.

Very few credible test reports of WithSecure products. AVLab.pl test would be the only one.

F-Secure due to its unusual banking protection technology.

F-Secure due to its unusual banking protection technology.
That's why because WithSecure don't want to participate public tests in general, but we will do our best.
mks_vir internet security and arcabit (both software developes in Poland) has similar banking protection features.

Banking protection is amazing, but I expect the security solution to provide me with an environment, free from malicious code. In this case, I am not sure what’s the benefit of “banking protection” or secure browser such as Trend Micro Pay Guard/Bitdefender SafePay.

Anyway, in terms of EDR/XDR SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto and Check Point are highly interesting. CrowdStrike does not have bigger problems now. There are teams to deal with the recent failures, the business continues to run and their threat detection/reporting remains just as essential as always.

In category 2, maybe you can drop certain products, like Xcitium and Webroot. The Webroot reputation around the web is less than favourable and as an asset it is very unsuccessful, with or without a test.

Maybe it's a "false sense of security"? I do know I feel better about using F-Secure banking protection, but...isn't opening a single browser tab, entering the bank web address directly into the address bar, and once there confirming your address and the certificate, is just as safe, especially since the site is also, has been scanned by the browser protection used, as you mentioned? :)

While generally safe, it's essential to be vigilant:

Typo Squatting: Accidentally typing a similar but incorrect URL can lead to a phishing site.

Malware: If your device is infected with malware, it could potentially intercept your banking information.

Public Wi-Fi: Avoid accessing sensitive information on public Wi-Fi networks.

Additional Tips:

Bookmark Your Bank: Save the official bank website as a bookmark for quick and easy access.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication: Add an extra layer of security to your account.

Keep Software Updated: Ensure your operating system and browser are up-to-date with the latest security patches.

By following these precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your bank account.

Excellent, especially the first two :) Are those banking features (Safe Pay, Safe Money, Banking Protection) valid,? Or, is it (those features) still something that needs to be taken with a grain of salt (they don't make us bullet-proof) and still be diligent on our ends, as per your post, (my stating it a bit rhetorically)? :)

Safe Pay, Safe Money, and similar features often include:

Phishing protection: These systems can identify fraudulent websites and warn users before they enter sensitive information.

Secure browsing environments: They create isolated browsing sessions to protect against malware attacks.

Keystroke protection: They can prevent keyloggers from capturing your credentials.
These features can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to typo squatting.

In conclusion, while Safe Pay, Safe Money, and similar features are valuable tools, they should be used in conjunction with other security best practices. Maintaining a vigilant approach to online security is crucial to protecting your financial information.
