RapidGator, one of the file-hosting sites that grew exponentially following the Megaupload shutdown last month, has been banned by PayPal. As a result, the Russian-based site says it will close the service in a month. According to PayPal, the RapidGator account was closed due to the “high risks” associated with processing payments to file-sharing services.

Personally I think PayPal has made the wrong decision with this ban. Although it's risky, PayPal allow other file-sharing websites to use it, namely 4Shared. It won't make them popular, and could risk severe attacks from groups such as Anonymous (remember the time when PayPal refused WikiLeaks). Hopefully PayPal realize this is a step in the wrong direction and could severely effect their business, especially with new money transferers hitting the block.
