Referring New Members

How does one "officially" refer new members. I tell others about the site but don't quite get the referral system on here. In any case, why would it matter to know who made the referral. Just being dumb old me again.

Go to your User Control Panel- http://malwaretips.com/usercp.php

Under your profile you will see your referral link, simply give the link to a user and after they register you will be credited.

For example my referral link- http://malwaretips.com/member.php?action=register&referrer=146

If the new member doesn't use the referral link, they can add your username to the registration page under referrer.

If they didn't add your name as the referrer, you can PM that member and ask them to contact Admin and you can still get credit.

I keep searching and for the life of me can see no referral link under my profile or even around the control panel. Possible glitch?
