I really this is a good and bad idea. I think it is invading on your privacy, but I guess it can be good because if they need evidence they can get to it quickly.

True. They want it for ongoing criminal investigations, not to look for potential suspects to prosecute.

It is an invasion of your privacy.Under the guise of a "criminal investigation" it gives them pretty much an open door policy.Last time I checked it was "We The People" and we have a right to our privacy.

Yeah, true White but if you look at it this way, a text message might be the only thing that will solve a criminal case. So it is good, in a strange way.

I don't use text messages on my cell phone. I find it completely annoying to have to type long messages which takes more work and time then to just to call someone or to have them call you. In fact, I had text messages disabled on my cell phone, I got tired of all of the promos sending me text messages about things I don't need. Some cell phone providers will drive you crazy sending you promos and there is no way to stop it other then to disable text messages.

Thanks.:D

I agree Littlebits,I very rarely use text messages.I leave the house and 5 mins later my kids are texting me,knowing full well that I am driving.Thing is it takes me forever to type a text while I am sitting in a chair and aside from the legality how in God's name am I supposed to reply wit a text message while I am driving.I prefer the phone over text messaging.

I don't talk on the phone or text while I am driving. I watch the road and avoid all distractions. When you drive like I do, you have to concentrate; every entrance to a corner, every exit, every merge, spacing, signaling, communication with PROPER signaling, and looking out for the non-drivin' schmucks while expecting the unexpected for better response times.

I do prefer to text over talking or being tied up in a phone conversation. I don't text my credit card numbers, or sensitive data though. If you look at my texts all you will be reading is the next romance/action thriller of a novel. I have the perfect phone to text with. I can type lightning fast with it.
