A good reason that any one using XP should get a new pc which supports Windows 7.

Windows 7 is four to five times less vulnerable to malware infections than is Windows XP.

OMG....another one? How many will Microsoft release ? ..........We get it...We should all drop Windows XP and buy Windows 7 ....
Also isn't normal for an OS who was released recently to be more secure when compared with one who has 11 years on the market?

Even when XP was in its prime it was still more vulnerable then 7 all day. XP SP3 is still valid with Microsoft so tis completely ok to compare it to 7 regardless of age.

When XP was at its prime.....cyber criminality wasn't so advanced. Also the number of guys who were involved in cyber criminality was much lower....
All this "Red Alert" on the Internet really started when people were able to do online transactions.
You can't compare todays number of threats and their complexity with those of 11 years ago.
Windows 7 is a more recent build ...and their developers learned from XP flaws when they build this OS.
It's like comparing NIS 2011 with NIS 2003....

As the industry has moved on, it's shut those holes with new versions and Implemented extra layers of security etc. It's unfair to compare them.

When Windows 8 comes out, we're going to say Windows 7 was alot less secure.

They are counting the number of infections - to me this shows that Win XP is still the most targeted operating system. They also talk about vulnerabilities, to me this makes no sense since XP, Vista and 7 are all Microsoft products and Microsoft should fix vulnerabilities in all of them as soon as possible. Win7 might have better security since they were thinking about security and they introduced new security features in this OS. But vulnerabilities will always be there and the only thing that matters is how fast they are fixed.

I already have Windows 7, but I didn't upgrade for the security. I just upgraded for features
