Please, activate UAC. By setting it to default you'll also be utilyzing an often misuderstood yet very tangeable level of protection (just in case) for catching changes being made to your system before they actually occur which happens to be something worth being reminded of.
I have my own set to "always notify".
Like yourself, we have an amazing Windows 7 SP 1 system which also happens to be the favorite in our household.

This very morning I'd performed a backup using a USB memory stick, and remember (when it was new) placing it's OS images onto 2 (or perhaps it was 3) DVD-RW discs. You might try this. It's anything but complicated, and will surely be a most effective insurance for your system too.
A free extension that is also available (optionally) as a binary program uses encryption security to securely store, handle, and generate more secure passwords that you'll never have to memorize, except for one. This is also among my favorite extensions that has made my life a great deal simpler and safer too!
